Congratulations to the 18 members of the Breast Team who climbed the highest mountain in Wales - Yr Wyddfa (Mount Snowdon) on Saturday, to raise money and awareness of the hospital charity which has helped them so much.
The team included surgeons, radiologists, nurses, mammographers, imaging assistants and receptionists and was raising money for Surrey & Sussex Healthcare Charity, as donations to the charity have recently helped the department with a new mammography chair, refurbished waiting areas, as well as through enhancing the chemotherapy suite. The team travelled from East Surrey Hospital, leaving at 4am, and not getting back till 2am the following morning!
The team received incredible support from our local community, raising over £5,000 which the charity will use towards our £44,000 appeal for a new cold cap machine for people having chemotherapy at East Surrey Hospital, and another for Crawley Chemotherapy Day Unit.
Donations to cancer fund help improve diagnosis, treatment, and support for people with cancer right here in East Surrey and West Sussex. The new Cold Cap machines will help us go beyond what is normally available in an NHS hospital, and would help to reduce hair loss for people going through their cancer treatment, and make a huge difference to the experience people have through their treatment.
