East Surrey Hospital has one of the busiest emergency departments in the South East, serving 744,000 people across East Surrey, large parts of Sussex, Gatwick Airport, and busy sections of the M25. A team of 300 people provide life saving care 24 hours a day, every day and night. The Emergency Department is at the hub of the network of life saving emergency workers in this part of the country, comprising the 300 staff in the department, police officers, paramedics and many other professions, here for us, 24 hours a day.

In a typical 24 hours, over 100 blue light emergency ambulances arrive, and another 360 people arrive on foot for emergency care.

The Emergency Department cares for more people than at any point in its history, meaning significant, sustained pressure on the staff working in the department.

We are asking for your help to raise money for our Emergency Department to help the team do more for patients in the ED, and their loved ones. Your donations will also help us improve the facilities for the 300 life saving staff in the department.

You can donate directly to the Emergency Department fund here, or join our brand new 24 Hours for the Emergency Department fundraising appeal. Take on your own sponsored challenge for 24 hours (spread over however long you need!) and the first £500 you raise will be matched by London Gatwick Airport - doubling your fundraising!
