Music has a unique ability to evoke memories, emotions, and a sense of identity in individuals with dementia. It stimulates cognitive function, reduces agitation, and enhances communication. For many patients, a familiar melody can bring back memories and moments of clarity that transcend some of the barriers of dementia. Therefore we are thrilled to have been able to fund Wishing Well music again!

Wishing Well's sessions are tailored to the needs and preferences of our patients, ensuring that the music resonates with them on a personal level. Whether it's a classic tune from their youth or a soothing instrumental piece, the aim is to create an environment of comfort and connection.

The impact is real.

"Wishing Well music were a great success to all, especially one patient who had not been engaging verbally on her ward, was singing along to all the songs." - The dementia care team at East Surrey Hospital (2024)

"Her daughter cried and later said her mother had not engaged meaningfully with anyone for a few months prior to this [Wishing Well music]" - Terri Salt, Lead CQC Inspector (2021)

Together, we are not just providing care; we are creating moments of joy, connection, and humanity for those who need it most. To provide more sessions for patients affected by dementia, please donate here.
