The Round Table has once again stepped up to bring joy to children during their time in hospital by funding a brand new RockinR gaming console for the children's ward at East Surrey Hospital. The grant has now made one of the wishlist items in our children's appeal become a reality and we are all so thankful.

The RockinR gaming console is a state-of-the-art gaming system designed specifically for children, offering a wide range of games, activities, and shows to keep young minds engaged and lift spirits during their hospital stay. Thanks to the grant from The Round Table, children in the ward now have access to this exciting new console, providing a welcome distraction from medical procedures and treatments. This brings our total to two gaming consoles out of the five we aim for.

You can read below how much this means to the children who have experienced The RockinR gaming console. A kind parent has also shared their experience with us:

"What a truly wonderful device! Rockin' R helped bring reprieve to our 2 day stay for my 5yr old. He played console games, watched films and together we watched channel 4 programmes whilst he was in recovery and during post op assessments we once again utilised it's full services. I genuinely would have been in a higher state of anxiety without it's use, as it brings a different dimension to our environment, which can be stressful. Alongside a fabulous team of CAS and Outwood team/staff, our stay has been outstanding in terms of care. Thank you"

George Kingsley, a member of The Round Table, visited whilst the RockinR gaming console was delivered and witnessed firsthand the positive impact it has on young patients. Staff members shared stories about how the console provides a much-needed distraction for children, helping them cope with their hospital stay. Additionally, the gaming consoles help prevent children from fiddling with medical equipment like wires or oxygen masks, thereby assisting in their overall care.

Please help us bring three more RockinR gaming consoles so that more children who require the services of the hospital can have better experiences. You can make a donation to our children's appeal here. If you would like to find out more, please email sash.charity@nhs.net.
