Over the course of three delicious days, the digital bake off team came together to showcase their impressive baking skills. From showstopping cakes to delicious pies and mouth-watering cookies, the entries were nothing short of spectacular, and each treat was an instant hit with everyone involved.
Andrew Bickerdike, Head of Charity (and for three days, Head Judge) says
"As a hospital charity, we've seen a few cakebakes....but the digital and medical records team blew us away. The effort the team went to with the baking was incredible. Cake day was impressive, pie day was a personal favourite for me, and we couldnt believe how many entries there were for cookie day! Was such a lovely thing for the whole team, and by selling the cakes, the team raised a lot of money that's already helped with providing new ride on cars for children in hospital to go to the operating theatres, as well as helping towards memory boxes for families who lose someone in intensive care. Honestly, great work by Angela and the whole team"
Turning bakes into impact for patients and families in hospital
Supporting the 'Forget Me Not' bereavement room
Thanks to the generous contributions from this fundraiser, the hospital’s bereavement team has been able to purchase the final piece of artwork for the 'Forget Me Not' room—a dedicated space providing comfort and solace to families experiencing baby loss. This room is designed to be a peaceful, reflective environment where parents can spend time with their child in a supportive setting. The addition of this meaningful artwork completes the room, offering a compassionate space for those going through an incredibly difficult time.
Helping Sunshine Day Nursery grow their garden project
The bake sale has also brought Sunshine Day Nursery one step closer to creating a growing space in their garden. This space will give children the opportunity to plant and nurture vegetables, teaching them about nature and the importance of healthy food. The children will also be able to take home the fruits and veggies to share with their families. Thanks to the fundraising efforts, the nursery is now within touching distance of completing this project that will benefit both the children and their families.
Automated car for children needing surgery
Another exciting upcoming project supported by the bake off fundraising is the purchase of an automated car that will transport children to theatres for surgery. This playful vehicle is designed to ease the anxiety of young patients as they head into surgery, transforming what could be a frightening experience into something more fun and less stressful. The funds raised will help young patients to feel a bit more at ease during a challenging time.
