Charity golf day to raise funds for local hospitals
SASH Charity, the charity supporting patients, families and staff of Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, is organising its first ever charity golf day on 26 May at Kingswood Golf and Country Club in Tadworth. We are looking for golfers to sign up to take part, for what should be a brilliant day, and will help raise funds for exciting projects in the local hospitals.
People of any standard can take part, with all the proceeds going to the Charity which supports SASH to create great experiences for patients and staff at East Surrey Hospital and all the Trust’s services. One project that will benefit from the funds raised is a refurbishment of the chemotherapy suite at East Surrey Hospital, providing new chairs for all the patients, new wall coverings/décor throughout, the installation of a rainbow mural and an end of treatment bell. The team who run the chemotherapy suite, which treats on average 6000 patients a year, are very excited about the project.
Claire Marie Williams, the senior nurse who has managed the chemotherapy suite for 11 years said: “It can be hard for our patients in come in for treatment, sometimes regularly or for a long time during the day. The new chairs and glamour wrapping on the walls of the chemotherapy suite will make their experience here a little bit easier on the eye and a more comfortable for them during their stay with us. My team and all at SASH will do all we can to ensure our patients’ safety with the highest standards but to help smooth their cancer journey with some comforts and calm will mean so much to them and us. ‘’
The money raised will also go towards improving two overnight rooms for parents of premature babies from Surrey and Sussex, as well as helping to create a new staff room for the 200 staff who work in the emergency department at East Surrey Hospital.
For anyone wanting to enter a team of 4, or enter individually, SASH Charity is asking for a suggested donation of £79. The day will consist of 18 holes of golf and include lunch and a charity auction where golfers can bid on a round of golf at the famous Wisley Club!
